Position Overview
The Quantity Surveyor / Estimator is responsible for preparing estimates for projects in the Modular, Industrial, Commercial & Offsite Sectors, while also actively supporting the ongoing project management after tender stage in the form of commercial and cost management controls, payment claims, valuations, variations, final accounts and following up payments.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare thorough estimates on new projects.
* Read and understand tender instructions, detailed drawings, and specifications.
* Measure quantities from Engineer's or Architect's drawings.
* Calculate costs for fabrication labour, materials, transports, site installation.
* Liaise with colleagues to ensure accuracy of tender.
* Build relationships with Clients, Main Contractors, Engineer's, Architects & Quantity Surveyors.
* Obtain quotes and build relationships with suppliers, sub-contractors.
* Maintain database for enquiries and submitted tenders using our CRM system.
* Follow up and track quotations.
* Partake in post tender negotiations.
* Oversee cost control by preparing projects budgets and keeping budgets current and accurate throughout the life cycle of each project.
* Monitor and report on financial expenditure, ensuring alignment with financial budgets for each project.
* Submit payment claims, valuations, and final account for each project.
* Work closely with design teams and project managers to ensure all extras / variations are costed and notified to the client.
* Assist project managers and commercial team with cost control and managing variations.
* Work closely with the Sales team.
Skills and Experience (Required):
* Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
* Experience:
Minimum of 3 years, preferably within the construction or engineering sectors. Knowledge of structural steel, cladding, modular buildings would be an advantage.
* Strong negotiation and communication skills.
* Ability of review, understand, analyse, and extract quantities from Engineer's and Architect's drawings is absolutely essential.
* Proficiency in cost control and cost planning.
* Excellent organisational and time-management abilities and ability to manage multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines.
* Willing to learn in a growing fast paced environment.
* Proficient in MS Office.
