Role OverviewOur client is establishing its finance team and accounting infrastructure in Ireland.They require a Financial Accountant to play a hands-on role in building core processes, supporting the monthly close, and ensuring accurate IFRS reporting across leasing and service operations. The role suits someone who is confident, proactive, and comfortable developing systems, controls, and working methods from the ground up.Key ResponsibilitiesFinance Function Setup & Process DevelopmentAssist in establishing the Irish finance team structure, workflows, and reporting processes.Contribute to the design and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.Support implementation of ERP systems and finance tools, including testing, data validation, and process optimisation.Help set up billing, collections, fixed asset tracking, contract data management, and vendor invoice processes.Financial Reporting & Month-EndPrepare monthly journals, reconciliations, and schedules for multiple entities.Assist in preparing Irish statutory accounts in compliance with IFRS.Support consolidation activities and prepare internal management reports.Investigate variances and perform analytical reviews.Revenue, Receivables & Cash CyclePrepare billing for lease and service contracts, ensuring contract terms are reflected accurately.Monitor trade receivables, perform ageing analysis, and support cash collection efforts.Assist with IFRS 9 expected credit loss calculations and documentation.Prepare reconciliations for deferred revenue, accrued income, and unbilled revenue.Fixed Assets, Leases & Cost TrackingMaintain fixed asset registers for rigs, vessels, helicopters, and related equipment.Track capital projects and maintain supporting documentation.Assist in lease revenue accounting under IFRS 16 and in interpreting contract data for billing.Audit, Compliance & GovernanceAssist with external audit requests, including evidence preparation and responding to queries.Help prepare tax support schedules and liaise with tax advisors.Contribute to developing a robust control environment within a new finance function.Cross-Functional & Startup SupportWork with operations, legal, commercial, and asset teams to gather contract and utilisation data.Support ad hoc projects related to scaling the Irish entity, including onboarding new activities, assets, and systems.Required Experience & SkillsAccountant with 4+ years of accountancy experienceExperience in audit, financial reporting, or industry accounting roles.Understanding of IFRS fundamentals; willingness to learn detailed IFRS 15/16/36/9 concepts.Experience working in a fast-paced, evolving, or early-stage finance environment is advantageous.Proficient in Excel and comfortable learning new financial systems.Must have a pre-existing working entitlement for Ireland/EU.Fluency in English and particularly the technical language requirements for this accounting position is essential.Bonus QualificationsExperience with fixed assets, revenue accounting, or lease accounting.Background in energy, aviation, shipping, infrastructure, or capital-intensive sectors.Experience contributing to process improvements or system implementations.Compensation & BenefitsThis position comes with a generous salary and benefits.
