This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with customer queries in relation to their IT requirements.
* Assisting the NIS Team with business consultations.
* Assisting the NIS Team in advising customers of IT solutions appropriate for their business or organisation.
* Answering queries promptly and managing the diary of work.
* Assisting with the monitoring and maintenance of support services for hardware, software and data centres.
* Assisting with cyber security consultations.
* Recording daily activity in the internal CAS system, which is reviewed weekly for improvement.
* Providing support to a variety of customers throughout the Midlands and beyond, both remotely and onsite.
* Administering Office 365, monitoring backups, and implementing cyber security controls.
Role Description
This is a training and work experience opportunity, no prior experience is necessary. Accredited and/or sector‑recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module, developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.
Learning Outcomes
* Learn what IT and network solutions are available for customers.
* Perform business needs analysis to identify appropriate software/Cloud solutions.
* Understand server solutions for businesses and hardware/software requirements.
* Learn new advances in IT and cyber security.
* Understand local area networks, routers, and firewalls.
Training Details
On‑job training for the first 6 weeks at 8 hours per week, covering informal training in customer service, documentation, workflow, teamwork and formal sector training (Cisco, Microsoft, HP) totaling over 20 hours.
