Position Overview
Our client is expanding its Environmental Team to provide in-house ecological services and is currently seeking an experienced Principal Ecologist.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team based in Dublin, collaborating on challenging and exciting projects spanning various sectors, including data centres, large-scale residential developments (LDR), and commercial developments.
The Environmental Team based in Dublin includes a diverse group of environmental consultants, geologists, hydrogeologists, chemists, and environmental scientists.
The successful candidate will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver and manage a range of ecological input and advice in line with client requirements.
Candidates should have good people skills, be driven, and also work well in a team environment.
A balance of technical, communication/written and field skills is sought to flexibly contribute to a variety of different projects.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Technical report writing: preparation of EcIA/biodiversity chapters for EIAR, AA, NIS, and ecological inputs to EIAR Screening, EIAR Scoping, SEA, and Site Selection.
* Providing leadership: managing sub-consultants and ecological specialists to meet project requirements effectively.
* Communicating: with clients, external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and sub-contractors to ensure compliance with all project requirements.
* Assisting in project management: post-planning approval assistance, specifically related to ecology including the provision of ECoW services.
* Proposal creation: to address client needs.
* Liaising with team members: keeping up-to-date with Irish and EU legislative and best-practice changes with regard to ecology and briefing their environmental team accordingly.
* Growth development: assist and take a leading role in the growth of ecological offerings.
Requirements
* Experience: minimum of 10 years' experience working as an ecological consultant.
* Legislative knowledge: experience in working in the context of Irish and European legislation (e.g., Habitats Directive, Birds Directive, EIA Directive, and transposing Irish Regulations).
* Track record: proven track record in preparing EcIA/biodiversity chapters for EIAR, AA/NIS.
* Educational qualifications: minimum BSc or BA (Hons) degree in ecology or related discipline (post graduate qualification desired).
* Professional membership: full or eligibility for full membership of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.
* GIS platform proficiency: confidence working with GIS platforms.
* Clean driving license: full clean driving licence.
