Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of this post is to support the delivery of a quality laboratory service in compliance with the requirements of international standard ISO 15189 in the Microbiology laboratory.
The post holder is required to perform a broad range of scientific work in the laboratory under the supervision of senior colleagues. She/he will carry out routine analyses, participate in implementing new methods, and actively participate in the laboratory quality management system.
Essential Criteria:
Candidates must, on the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the post, possess:
* Bachelor’s in science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the University of Dublin/ Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street
* or Bachelor’s in science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from University College Cork – Cork Institute of Technology course
* or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994
* or Possess Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or Cork Institute of Technology or the Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology (awarded prior to 1997)
* or A recognised qualification at least equivalent to the above and be a member, or be eligible for membership, of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM)
* and be CORU registered
