Overview
Hitachi Energy in Europe (HBUEU) is seeking Electrical Engineers to join the Engineering team supporting the Ireland Power Grids Grid Integration business. The role reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for electrical design works complying with Hitachi Energy and customer standards, procedures, and policies. The engineer acts as a design authority for an engineering discipline with medium to high complexity, coordinating assignments across several projects within the value chain, in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. Location: Ireland (Hybrid) with travel to Dublin and other sites. Note: visa support is not available for this position.
Responsibilities
* Act as a technical lead, approve design deliverables, review project documents for conformity and quality assurance, and apply advanced concepts and methods.
* Assist in preparing proposals/presentations of engineering projects (bill of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.).
* Support Contract Managers in managing scope changes, cost and time impacts, risk quantifications, and deliver quality solutions within budget and contract terms while ensuring safety standards.
* Create work plans and cost estimates; review and approve scope, budget, and schedule; collaborate with other functions to improve work plans.
* Develop and execute risk and opportunity management strategies; identify and manage contract risks and coordinate corrective actions; report issues with recommendations to management.
* Engage with customers to shape and deliver solutions, seek feedback, attend project meetings, and present engineering aspects as required.
* Collaborate with Supply Chain to communicate and agree technical requirements with suppliers; provide technical evaluation of supplier proposals.
* Represent the function in standardization committees and external conferences; serve as a technical adviser to senior management; network within Hitachi Energy and externally.
* Review and develop quality standards, processes, tools, and techniques; ensure compliance with safety regulations and contractual requirements; contribute to continuous improvement of processes.
Your Background
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Proven experience in electrical engineering within utilities, data centers, or general industry sectors.
* HV experience.
* Strong knowledge of engineering design principles and standards.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex issues.
* Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to work well in a team environment.
