Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to support our client in a high-profile pharmaceutical project in Limerick.
This position is critical to maintaining a safe working environment on a technically complex project involving advanced fire protection infrastructure in regulated pharmaceutical operations.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and monitor site-specific Health & Safety Management Systems in line with Irish legislation and company standards
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance
Support the development and review of Method Statements, Risk Assessments (RAMS), and Safe Systems of Work
Ensure full compliance with Irish HSA regulations, EU directives, and pharmaceutical industry safety requirements
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving safety legislation and industry best practices
Liaise with regulatory bodies, client representatives, and internal stakeholders during inspections and audits
Deliver safety inductions and toolbox talks to site personnel and subcontractors
Promote a strong safety culture through continuous engagement and behavioural safety initiatives
Provide guidance and coaching to supervisors and workers on safe practices
Maintain accurate records of incidents, near misses, and safety metrics
Report KPIs and safety performance to the project and senior management
Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to integrate safety into all phases of the project lifecycle
Support commissioning and installation activities related to fire protection systems and critical infrastructure
Ensure safe coordination of multiple contractors in a live or high-risk environment
Key Requirements
Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline
Professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent)
Additional pharmaceutical or construction safety certifications are advantageous
5+ years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within construction, engineering, or industrial environments
Experience working on pharmaceutical or regulated projects is highly desirable
Familiarity with fire protection systems is a strong advantage
Strong knowledge of Irish health & safety legislation and EU standards
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to influence and drive a positive safety culture on site
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficient in reporting tools and Microsoft Office Suite
