We are a fast-growing plastics recycling manufacturing business based in Co. Meath, supplying high-quality recycled materials to Irish and international markets.
As part of our continued expansion, we are seeking an experienced Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety (QEHS) Manager to take full ownership of QEHS across our site.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with full accountability for quality, safety, environmental compliance, sustainability and energy management performance. You will build, embed and continuously improve systems while remaining closely involved in day-to-day site operations, audits, regulatory compliance, contractor management and employee engagement.

The Role
You will be responsible for:
* Product quality and customer compliance
* Environmental regulation, sustainability and waste management
* Health & safety performance and legal compliance
* ISO management systems (9001, 14001 and ISO 50001 implementation)
* Regulatory reporting and audit readiness
* Driving a strong safety, quality and sustainability culture on the shop floor
You will act as the primary site contact for auditors, regulators, customers and key stakeholders, working closely with the CEO and Operations leadership team.
This role requires strong ownership, sound judgement and the ability to drive initiatives through to completion in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Quality
* Own and maintain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System
* Lead internal, customer and certification audits
* Manage non-conforming product, investigations and CAPAs
* Approve new raw materials and product specifications
* Support new product introduction from a quality perspective
* Manage customer complaints and quality KPIs
* Support upkeep and integration of relevant certifications
Environmental, Sustainability & Energy
* Own and maintain ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
* Lead the development, implementation and certification of the ISO 50001 Energy Management System
* Establish energy baselines, monitoring systems and performance indicators
* Drive energy efficiency projects across production, utilities and facilities
* Ensure full compliance with Irish environmental legislation and permit conditions
* Manage waste permits, reporting obligations and CSRD inputs
* Lead environmental risk assessments, aspects & impacts reviews and incident investigations
* Drive sustainability initiatives
* Oversee environmental controls including filters, abatement systems, drainage, bund integrity testing and emissions monitoring (air, noise, wastewater)
Health & Safety
* Own the site Health & Safety Management System in line with Irish legislation and recognised best practice
* Maintain and update Safety Statement, risk assessments and emergency plans
* Lead accident reporting, investigations and statutory HSA reporting
* Plan and conduct emergency drills
* Manage contractor safety and permit-to-work systems
* Coordinate and deliver safety training and inductions
* Drive a strong behavioural safety culture across production and engineering teams
Operational Compliance (Hands-on Ownership)
You will retain direct oversight and coordination of:
* Forklift testing, certification, daily checks and repairs
* Statutory inspections of safety equipment (alarms, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, spill kits, first aid kits)
* Equipment calibration systems
* Waste contractor management (baled waste, batteries, pallets, shredded wood, skips, hygiene waste, waste water, pest control etc.)
* Complete all regulatory reporting and ensure deadlines are met inline with requirements:
* Training booking and training record management
* Legal register and legislation update services
Leadership & Culture
* Act as a visible, trusted presence on the production floor
* Coach and influence managers and operators to take ownership of QEHS standards
* Build scalable systems to support company growth
* Lead continuous improvement projects across safety, quality, environment and energy
* Line manage QEHS staff where applicable
* Ensure QEHS considerations are embedded into operational and commercial decision-making
About You
Essential
* 5+ years' experience in a senior QEHS / EHS / Quality role within manufacturing or recycling
* Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
* Experience managing audits, regulators and customer compliance
* Solid understanding of Irish environmental and health & safety legislation
* Proven ability to take ownership, make informed decisions independently and drive tasks to completion
* Comfortable operating in fast-paced production environments
* Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable
* Experience implementing or maintaining ISO 50001
* Plastics or recycling industry background
* Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 / ISO 14001)
