Calibration and Maintenance Specialist
and play a crucial role in ensuring the operational excellence of our laboratory equipment and systems.
About the Role
As a Calibration and Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the calibration, qualification, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and systems. You will work closely with contractors, analysts, and quality personnel to ensure regulatory compliance, operational continuity, and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Operational:
* Coordinate contractor visits, including onboarding and site protocols.
* Manage equipment calibration, both in-house and externally (e.g., weights, temperature probes).
* Review documentation including IQ/OQ/PQ reports and calibration certificates.
* Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and coordinate repairs.
* Perform in-house calibrations (e.g., solvent recyclers, Karl Fischer systems).
* Conduct 3M temperature checks across lab instruments (LCs, water baths, heaters).
* Track and graph monthly temperature/humidity profiles of stability cabinets.
* Perform weekly and monthly temperature checks on cold storage units.
* Support budgeting and procurement for new laboratory equipment.
* Lead or assist in equipment qualification, validation, and documentation updates (SOPs/WISOPs).
* Maintain the monthly calibration programme and manage spare parts.
* Contribute to data integrity efforts and software administration (Empower, IDIS, IR, etc.).
* Assist with regulatory and internal audits.
Teamwork & Collaboration:
* Work collaboratively across departments to support analytical and operational needs.
* Support a culture of performance, flexibility, and continuous improvement.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality:
* Adhere to and promote all GMP, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Act as a role model for high standards, especially when interacting with visitors.
Additional Duties:
* Participate in training and cross-functional project teams as required.
* Undertake other duties as needed to support departmental goals.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* 3rd-level qualification in Science, Instrumentation, or Automation.
* Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
* A proactive and positive approach to problem-solving and team collaboration.
Desirable:
* 4+ years of relevant experience in a pharmaceutical laboratory.
* Honours degree in Chemistry or Analytical Science.
* Previous experience in a calibration/maintenance-focused role.
