Artic Driver - Job Specification
O'Connell Quarries is currently recruiting for the position of Artic Driver for quarry work including tipper work, concrete mixer work, cement bulk work and occasional low loader work.
Company Background: O'Connell Quarries is a family-owned business trading in Ballycar, Ardnacrusha, Co Clare for over forty years. The Group trades under the business name "O'Connell Quarries" which includes four group companies, namely O'Connell Quarries Group, Bobby O'Connell & Sons Ltd, O'Connell Concrete Ltd and O'Connell Aggregates Ltd. The Groups principal activities include quarrying, the manufacture of ready-mix concrete and the supply of aggregate product and ready-mix concrete to customers across the Mid-Western region.
Job Title: Artic Driver.
Job Type: Full-time.
A fixed-term contract will issue to the successful candidate and will contain a probationary period.
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience of candidate.
Reporting to: The Operations Manager.
Location: Ballycar, Ardnacrusha, Co Clare.
Job Summary: Drivers report to the Operations Manager and are responsible for delivering products to customers.
Your Role: The ideal candidate will have a positive can-do attitude. This is an excellent role for the right candidate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Transporting goods and raw materials from our quarries and manufacturing plants to customers.
· Planning routes in advance and ensuring delivery deadlines are met.
· Overseeing the safe loading and unloading of goods.
· Inspecting your vehicle for any mechanical issues and perform preventative maintenance.
· Ensuring machinery is maintained to a good condition.
· Reporting any accidents, violations, or defects in your vehicle.
· Documenting distance travelled and keeping of receipts.
· Comply with all relevant rules and regulations.
· Ensuring all aspects of Health and Safety are met.
· Other ad hoc duties as requested.

Key Requirements:
· The capacity to use and read Sat-Nav systems.
· A valid license to drive the requisite vehicle.
· A knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
· No recent driving violations.
· A track record of reliability.
· The ability to adapt to unexpected situations such as inclement weather or heavy traffic.
· A reasonable degree of physical strength and fitness.
· Be a self-starter who can work independently and who can multi-task.
· Be able to work on their own initiative.
