SAE-21 Postdoctoral Researcher in Optical Design and Biophotonics (Raydiant)
Contract: Full Time/Fixed Term
The Tyndall National Institute, in collaboration with the Irish Photonic Integration Centre (IPIC) and University College Cork, has established a research program focused on biophotonics technology to improve healthcare diagnostics and treatments, funded by a €5M award from Science Foundation Ireland (SFI).
The role primarily involves working on an industrial project related to fetal monitoring during labor using pulse oximetry, integrated within the broader biophotonics team.
The successful candidate should be creative, self-motivated, and capable of fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. This position offers opportunities for international visibility and contribution to a new center for biophotonics.
Key responsibilities include:
* Conducting research on hardware development, optical design, software development, data analysis, and collaboration with industry and clinical partners.
* Supporting postgraduate research and developing future research initiatives.
* Collaborating with industry and academic partners on research proposals and grant writing.
* Disseminating research findings and participating in scholarly activities.
* Supporting administrative, financial, and compliance activities within the research projects.
Qualifications:
* Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields with a strong background in photonics.
* Experience in biophotonics and optical imaging systems, with strong theoretical and experimental skills.
* Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
* Research experience and technical competence in relevant areas.
* Self-motivated, initiative-driven, and team-oriented.
* Experience in biomedical optics, imaging, spectroscopy, or system integration is highly desirable.
Salary range: €41,207 - €47,477 per annum, based on public sector pay policy.
