Overview
Due to retirement, the Blood Sciences Department at NHS Highland requires a Senior Biomedical Scientist with training responsibility to join our friendly, dedicated and professional team. The post is based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, with technical and training support responsibilities to the laboratories at Caithness General, Belford Hospital and Lorn and Islands General Labs.
Responsibilities
Provide technical and training support to laboratories at Raigmore, Caithness General, Belford Hospital and Lorn and Islands General Labs.
Perform biochemistry analyses using Siemens Atellica CH and IM analysers and participate in routine and specialist analyses.
Carry out HbA1c analysis using Tosoh G11 HPLC, Osmolality measurements and CSF Xanthochromia.
Contribute to the department’s ISO 15189 quality framework and maintain relevant accreditation standards.
Qualifications and Experience
IBMS Specialist portfolio or MSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
5 years post-qualification experience, and/or suitable experience at band 6 level.
Experience in an ISO 15189 accredited laboratory is required.
Biochemistry experience is essential; training experience is desirable.

The Blood Science Department in Raigmore handles a wide geographic workload and provides a tertiary centre service for NHS Highland. The department handles a large volume of tests and supports services across the region.
