Job Title: Geotechnical Engineer
Deliver complex geotechnical design solutions as part of a multidisciplinary team on infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Project management and coordination with various teams.
* Designing earthworks, slope stability, shallow and deep foundations, and retaining walls to meet Eurocode 7 standards.
* Planning and procurement of ground investigation contracts for major infrastructure projects.
* Providing specialist geotechnical design input to support design teams.
* Pavement foundation design in accordance with TII/UK DMRB standards.
* Designing ground improvement techniques for soft ground using surcharge, vertical drains, piled embankments, and lime/concrete subgrade stabilisation.
* Preparing reports, drawings, and calculations as required.
* Developing Designer's and Geotechnical Risk Registers and assessments.
* Tender preparation and submission.
Candidate Requirements:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in geotechnical design is essential.
* Experience working in Irish/UK glacial till soils is desirable but not mandatory.
* A Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a related field is required.
* Chartered status CEng, MICE or equivalent is highly desirable but not essential.
* Proven experience working in a fast-paced engineering consultancy environment.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills are necessary for this role.
* Familiarity with soft ground techniques, soil reinforcement, piling, and retaining walls is highly desirable.
* Ability to design to Eurocode 7 standards is essential.
* Proficiency in general numerical software such as Geo Studio, Holebase/Openground, Wallap, etc.
* Excellent interpersonal, technical, and communication skills are required.
* Fluent English language skills (written and spoken) are essential.
* A valid full clean driver's license is required.
