We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form friendships.

Candidates will be required to be completely flexible in this position and will be required to work a variety of hours including day and night duty and programme hours as required.
They will also be required to alter and work between different community houses and day programme areas within the Bruach na Mara Services.
The Role: To provide clinical nursing skills to support people with an intellectual disability to achieve optimum levels of independence.
To exhibit and maintain the highest quality of nursing practice and apply their skills to ensure the physical, social, emotional needs of the people supported by the services at all times.
Be responsible for the provision of nursing care and also be an informed resource for educating the other members of the staff team and other key people in the lives of the people we support.
Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/ Service Coordinator / Area Manager Qualifications/Experience/Skills: The successful candidate must have - A current Live Register Certificate with the NMBI (An Bord Altranais), RNID qualification is highly desirable.
A current full clean Manual Irish driving licence as this is an essential part of the post.
A level of experience sufficient to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with an intellectual disability.
Fluency in the Irish Language is desirable.
If not fluent, a willingness to learn Irish, with the support of the service, is expected.
Good judgement, discretion, confidentiality, creative problem solving skills, flexibility, patience and eagerness to become involved in a range of activities.
The ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms, to communicate appropriately with the people we support and sensitively with family members.
The ability to work independently and seek support from interdisciplinary colleagues as appropriate.
The ability to educate other staff and family members in positive health promotion needs.
Display professionalism and be knowledgeable as a practising Nurse in Disability Services.
To co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy, participate in person centred planning, reviews, team meetings, attend and participate in training courses, and be an active member of the team.
Working Hours: 75 hours a fortnight based on a 14 day duty roster.
The successful candidate may be required to work weekends, public holidays, and night duty, to meet service needs.
The Staff Nurse will act up for the Team Leader in their absence.
The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Annual Leave: 24 days per annum i.e.
9.23 hours per 100 hours worked.
Appropriate service related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years service respectively.
Remuneration: Department of Health Staff Nurse salary scale (01/08/2025) - €37,288 per annum x 11 increments - €53,873per annum (Maximum).
Long Service Increment €55,477 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.
Department of Health Enhanced Nurse salary scale (01/08/2025) - €44,311 per annum x 7 increments - €55,644 per annum (Maximum).
Long Service Increment €57,273 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.
As per HSE HR Circular 022/2019 - Nursing and Midwifery - the Enhanced Nurse / Midwife Practice Contract once a staff nurse reaches point 4 on the Staff Nurse salary scale, they become eligible to apply for the role of Enhanced Nurse.
Any Staff Nurse who wishes to avail of the Enhanced Nurse role will have to submit an application and also meet the qualifying criteria.
The successful candidates will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous relevant nursing service.
Tenure: This post is permanent full time and pensionable.
Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post.
The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment.
The probation period may be extended at the Employer's discretion.
