QEHS Manager Mechanical Engineering Industry - Mayo DesignBuild Search are working with a leading Mechanical Contractor in the West of Ireland who have an opening for a QEHS Manager based at the manufacturing site. Initially a one year contract based at the site with opportunity to continue. It will be based in the factory site office in Castlebar. We are interested in talking to a committed and detail-oriented QEHS Manager to manage and enhance the Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety management systems. This role supports both manufacturing operations and site-based installation projects, with occasional travel across the UK and Europe for inspections, audits, and compliance oversight. You will play a key part in upholding ISO, and 45001 certifications and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and compliance throughout the business. Duties & Responsibilities Maintain and continuously improve the integrated management systems in line with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) standards. Conduct and coordinate internal audits and support external certification audits. Identify, investigate, and manage non-conformances, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented. Lead and promote continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and installation operations. Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments at projects across the UK and Europe to ensure compliance with QEHS standards. Prepare detailed inspection and audit reports, including findings, action items, and recommendations. Deliver QEHS inductions and ongoing training for staff and subcontractors to foster a strong safety and quality culture. Monitor and report on QEHS KPIs, including incident rates, environmental metrics, and audit performance. Stay up to date with relevant European legislation and industry best practices in quality, environmental, and health & safety management. Act as a key point of contact for QEHS matters across the business, supporting both the manufacturing facility and on-site installation teams. Support the implementation of sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with environmental goals. Champion safe working practices and lead by example across all locations and levels of the organization. Requirements: Degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant field (e.g. Quality Management, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering). Minimum 3 years experience in a QEHS role preferably manufacturing, construction, or engineering. Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems. Excellent communication, organisational, and reporting skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems proactively. Ability and legal right to travel freely between the UK and EU. Holds a valid visa or permit that allows unrestricted travel across European countries. Willingness and availability to travel occasionally across UK and EU sites. Full clean driving licence and valid passport required.
