Description
In your day-to-day role, you will:
1. Ensure accurate and timely preparation, filing, and payment of VAT, ESL/ESPL, Intrastat, SAF-T, and other indirect tax reports across the EMEA region.
2. Work closely with our Indirect Tax Advisory team to monitor, analyze, and evaluate indirect tax law changes impacting PayPal.
3. Partner with third-party compliance service providers to review/approve tax filings, identify process improvements, and update procedures as needed.
4. Collaborate with Shared Service to provide accurate, reconciled data, ensure on-time tax payments, and manage VAT accounting.
5. Drive standardized, efficient, and effective processes with global indirect tax compliance colleagues.
6. Monitor ERP and tax engine outputs to ensure accuracy and resolve issues with IT and Advisory teams.
7. Identify and implement process enhancements and automation opportunities to improve reporting efficiency.
8. Build strong relationships with Tax Advisory, Shared Service, IT, Accounts Payable, and Accounting teams to maintain business process requirements.
9. Support audit management by providing audit-ready files and documentation.
10. Develop strategies to mitigate compliance risks and identify opportunities.
11. Respond promptly to notices and manage administrative updates like license renewals.
12. Maintain file archives per PayPal’s document retention policies.
Requirements:
1. Degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field.
2. 8+ years of indirect tax compliance experience, preferably at Big 4 or large multinational corporations.
3. Thorough understanding of indirect tax compliance across multiple EMEA jurisdictions.
4. Project management skills.
5. Strong command of English and excellent communication skills.
6. Ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly.
7. Proficiency with SAP ECC or S/4 Hana.
Preferred:
1. Experience with tax engine functionality, especially OneSource.
2. Chartered Accountancy qualification.
3. Experience with tax reporting tools and automation software.
4. Fintech industry experience.
