Senior Medical Scientist in Biochemistry/Immunology
An opportunity has arisen in our Laboratory department for a permanent Senior Medical Scientist in Biochemistry/Immunology. This is a part-time role, 17.5 hours per week.
Purpose of the post
To be responsible for the provision of an efficient, effective, accredited laboratory service for the patients of the Mater Private Hospital.
Professional Qualifications, Registration, Essential Skills & Knowledge
Candidates must:
* possess the Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the University of Dublin/ Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street;
* or possess the Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Joint University College Cork Cork Institute of Technology course;
* or possess the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994;
* or possess the Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute or Technology or the Galway/ Mayo Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1997;
* or possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (a) or (b) above;
* or possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (c) awarded prior to 1994;
* or possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (d) awarded prior to 1995;
* and be a member of, or be eligible for membership of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (MACSLM);
* and Must be registered with CORU;
* The successful candidate should possess good interpersonal skills and awareness/ sensitivity towards patient needs.
* The successful candidate must possess four years experience in a medical laboratory since qualifying as a Medical Scientist;
* The successful candidate must possess a NFQ Level 9 post graduate qualification;
