Responsibilities
Operate and manage the site Waste Water Treatment Plant to ensure compliant effluent discharge.
Perform daily sampling and testing on site for pH, temperature, COD, ammonia and nitrogen.
Collate data from daily WWTP records and liaise with management to ensure site compliance with its IE licence.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures and complete record forms as part of ISO 14001 management system.
Attend ISO 14001 and EPA unannounced site inspections.
Complete incident and complaint reports with Group Environmental Officer to report to authorities.
Prepare reports for Environmental Agencies and government bodies.
Report directly to the Environmental Manager and maintain the Environmental Management System.
Ensure legislative compliance and that the site adheres to applicable legislation.
Conduct internal audits of the site quarterly.
Organise contractors on behalf of the Environmental Manager for bundle tank and pipeline testing, purchasing of chemicals and other required contractors.
Ensure the site only combusts fuels approved on the Green House Gas permit.
Ensure site compliance with the Green House Gas and Site IE licences.
Carry out other administrative duties as required by the Environmental Manager.
Qualifications
Primary degree in environmental or earth sciences, environmental engineering, geography, geophysics or chemistry. Postgraduate degrees are increasingly required and advantageous.
Relevant experience or knowledge in environmental consultancy practices.
