Job Description
The purpose of this role is to achieve key objectives related to service, cost, productivity, and throughput for all Network depots through effective management of employees, maintenance of company operating standards, and compliance with ISO operating procedures. This involves strategic leadership, motivation, and direction of direct reports and their teams, which encompass night operations functions within the business.
Operational Hours: Typically 8pm to 2am with flexibility required.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic:
To contribute to the development of Central Operations strategy.
Operational:
* Manage sortation processes and parcel movements in line with company policy.
* Ensure quality procedures are delivered during night shifts.
* Plan and manage holidays in accordance with operational requirements.
* Meet or exceed service levels for all areas of responsibility.
* Reduce Hub sortation unit costs.
* Oversee safe and efficient movement of site traffic through the night yard traffic management team.
Financial:
* Control night Hub operations costs through planning and review of financial reporting procedures.
* Contribute to annual and period planning.
Service:
* Support the depot networks by providing and improving liaison with Operations Support and other relevant departments.
Health & Safety/Security:
* Implement and monitor company Health and Safety policy during Night Operations.
* Contribute to Security Policy and facilitate security awareness.
HR:
* Liaise with HR Department to support recruitment.
* Improve employee retention and manage absence.
* Carry out disciplinary and grievance hearings in accordance with company procedures.
* Communicate effectively with employees, manage appraisals, and provide training.
* Develop directly line managers and their reports.
* Manage On Job Trainer programme (OJT's) for new starters.
* Attend regular meetings with union/employee representatives.
Other:
* Undertake projects designated by the CEO and collaborate with Heads of Departments on other initiatives.
* Liaise with external consultants and design agencies to support production of company reports.
Qualification:
* Third-level qualification in Supply Chain or similar, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
* Flexibility around working hours.
* Excellent people skills.
* Full clean driver's license.
* Excellent communication and administrative skills.
