Alliance Medical has an amazing opportunity for a part‑time Clinical Director to join our team. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Clinical Director will work in close collaboration with the AMDI Senior Management team to ensure alignment with AMDI's clinical strategy, governance frameworks, and professional standards. The Clinical Director has overall responsibility for clinical governance, patient safety, and quality of care while also contributing clinical expertise to support organisational strategy and service development.

Key Responsibilities
Executive Medical & Clinical Leadership
Provide senior medical leadership and expertise to the Senior Management Team
Ensure clinical considerations are fully embedded in strategy, risk management, and decision‑making
Partner with the Senior Management team to provide the clinical expertise required to drive commercial growth in existing and new lines of patient services
Clinical Governance & Patient Safety
Hold executive accountability for the clinical governance framework, in line with HIQA and RQIA expectations and accreditation standards
Provide senior medical oversight of serious reportable events, high‑risk incidents, and emerging safety risks
Ensure effective systems are in place for:
Patient safety
Incident reporting, investigation, and learning
Complaints management and open disclosure
Medical Professional Leadership
Provide professional leadership and oversight to all medical practitioners and radiologists working for or on behalf of AMDI
Ensure standards of professional practice, diagnostic reporting quality, and scope of practice are maintained
Provide clinical mentorship and guidance to radiologists regarding peer review, complex cases, professional standards, and best practice, as required
Support medical workforce planning, recruitment, competency assurance, and subspecialty coverage
Advise on and, where necessary, direct actions relating to:
Professional practice concerns
Restriction or escalation of clinical activity to protect patient safety
Audit, Clinical Effectiveness & Quality Improvement
Provide executive oversight of the clinical audit and clinical effectiveness programme
Ensure learning from audits is implemented, monitored, and assured at SMT level and Group level
Aligned with national and professional standards
Ensure audit activity is:
Risk‑informed

Regulatory, Statutory & Compliance Oversight
Act as, or oversee, appropriate statutory and designated clinical governance roles, ensuring clear accountability and reporting
Provide leadership and assurance for compliance with:
Radiation safety legislation
Regulatory body standards and inspection requirements
Data protection and information governance obligations
Accreditation and certification processes
Clinical Risk, Complaints & MedicoLegal Matters
Ensure clinical learning and system improvement actions are identified and implemented
Recommend restriction, review, or escalation of clinical practice where required to protect patient safety
Attend and contribute to Clinical Governance and Quality & Safety Committee meetings
Provide clinical interpretation of governance data, trends, and risks.
Provide expert guidance and input on radiology clinical standards, peer review outcomes, regulatory requirements, and diagnostic imaging practice, informed by continuous review of current evidence, professional guidance, and evolving practice.
Provide senior clinical input into:
Medium and high‑risk complaints involving clinical judgement
Serious incidents and external reviews
Coroner's cases, potential claims, and medicolegal processes
Strategic Development & Stakeholder Engagement
Provide clinical leadership to support:
Service development and innovation
Adoption of new technology and evidence‑based practice, including AI where appropriate
Build effective relationships with:
Referrers and service partners
Radiology community
Regulators and inspectors
Professional and clinical bodies
Act as a senior clinical ambassador, policy advisor and advocate especially in the area of Radiopharmacy and PETCT for AMDI
Qualifications
Medical degree with registration on the Medical Council of Ireland and General Medical Council (Northern Ireland)
In good professional standing with no restrictions on practice
Fellowship or membership of a recognised medical college
