As a Canteen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our canteen or cafeteria. This position involves various tasks related to food preparation, customer service, and maintaining cleanliness in the canteen. The Canteen Assistant reports to the Executive Chef and Management. This position does not involve direct involvement in food preparation or handling cash transactions. Instead, your responsibilities will revolve around supporting the overall functionality of the staff canteen.Duties And ResponsibilitiesEnsure that food presentation meets established standards.Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, and serving areas regularly. Ensure that all rooms and areas meet established cleanliness and maintenance standards.Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the canteen at all times, including the disposal of waste.Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations and follow proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of food.Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor and ensure that you are aware of company policy in relation to fire safety and health and safety protocols.Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and other canteen team members and communicate effectively to ensure smooth coordination during peak times.Ensure compliance with safety regulations, health standards, and company policies.Greet staff members warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere in the staff room.Report low inventory levels and replenish supplies such as napkins, utensils, and condiments as needed.Arrange seating and assist with any necessary arrangements for canteen activities.Provide assistance in locating items or answering general inquiries.Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, serving staff, and other team members and collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive and efficient work environment.
