Roughan O’Donovan (ROD) is looking to recruit a resident engineer for the Waterford City Public Infrastructure Project scheme, Sustainable Transport Bridge, South Plaza Works and the construction of the access infrastructure on the northern side of the river Suir.

Responsibilities
The Works Will Primarily Involve
* marine works consisting of combi-pile cofferdams, piling for pier foundations, construction of reinforced concrete pile caps and piers
* fabrication of steel superstructure for fixed and moveable spans
* mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA) of the double leaf bascule spans attached to the fixed spans and associated control rooms and buildings
* bridge deck finishes, including parapets, railings, lighting etc.
* construction of an approach plaza to the southern bridge approach, consisting of a piled foundation, reinforced concrete slab, quay walls and all associated public realm and finishes
* works on the north side of Waterford which include a widening of 800m of the Dock Road and the realignment of 350m of Abbey Road
* works for two new access roads over the existing railway line to the Strategic Development Zone site
* works for the construction of four bridge structures which span the existing railway and the proposed Waterford to New Ross Greenway and approximately 675m of retaining wall structures and engineered embankments
Your Duties Will Include Supervision Of
* all marine works for the STB, including cofferdams and reinforced concrete substructures
* all civil and marines works for the South Plaza
* bridge deck superstructure erection and finishes
* the movable spans and associated infrastructure and commissioning of same
* supervision of all earthworks, drainage and utility diversions
* supervision of roadworks in an urban environment with extensive traffic management
* supervision of the construction of foundations, substructures and superstructures of bridge structures
Essential qualifications
* Degree in engineering or construction management (Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)
* At least 7 years’ postgraduate experience in civil engineering works, with a minimum of 5 years’ site based on bridge, marine or civil works
* Experience in administering the public works forms of contract
* Experience of civil engineering projects involving construction works over environmentally sensitive watercourses
* Experience in the review and monitoring of Environmental Operating Plan(s) for civil engineering projects, including at least one project involving works crossing or directly adjacent to environmentally/ecologically designated sites and sensitive watercourse
* Experience in implementing procedures and systems for accurate record-keeping
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety legislation
* Good organisational skills
* Motivated individual with a strong work ethic
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written English
