What are we looking for?
* Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice on applicable laws and regulations, including pensions and long term savings products and related regulatory frameworks.
* Offer authoritative interpretation of legal issues for senior management, anticipating and advising on developments in legislation, regulation, and case law that may impact Standard Life.
* Draft, review, negotiate, and execute high quality legal documentation to ensure Standard Life can legally undertake business with appropriate protection.
* Review and advise on existing legal and commercial contracts as required.
* Provide legal input into strategic projects, regulatory change programmes, and wider company initiatives, ensuring legal, technical, and commercial risks are identified and addressed.
* Support the resolution of disputes to mitigate legal risk, reduce exposure, and minimise compensation payments.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams such as Compliance, Product, Risk, HR, and senior management.
* Ensure efficient and cost-effective use of external advisers where required.
* Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, regulatory requirements, and case law to support the delivery of high-quality legal advice.
* Contribute to the wider Legal team through knowledge sharing, training sessions, and the development of internal precedents.
* Report to the Head of Legal Ireland.
Essential qualification-
* Irish Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years' PQE.
* Excellent drafting skills and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and succinctly.
* Experience reviewing, drafting, and advising on a variety of commercial contracts.
* Demonstrated ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
* Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence advising at senior levels.
* Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
* Collaborative, pragmatic, and solutions focused approach.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong planning and organisational abilities.
Desirable
* Experience in pensions, long‑term savings, financial services or a closely related field (private practice or in‑house)
* Understanding Standard Life's product & market.
