24 Months, Fixed Term Full-Time Post Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Post-Doctoral Researcher to lead and coordinate microbiome research activities across three large, multi-site human cohorts in Europe. The successful candidate will oversee the collection, processing and analysis of microbiome samples, ensuring harmonised protocols, high-quality data generation, and robust statistical and bioinformatic workflows across all participating sites. The role requires strong expertise in human cohort studies, microbiome sequencing technologies (e.g., 16S, shotgun metagenomics), and advanced data analysis including statistical modelling, multi-omic integration and reproducible computational pipelines. The Post-Doctoral Researcher will integrate microbiome outputs with clinical, lifestyle, cognitive, metabolic and other biological datasets arising from the cohorts, working closely with collaborators to generate mechanistic insights and high-impact publications. Key responsibilities include coordinating sample and metadata management, developing and maintaining analysis pipelines, troubleshooting analytical and technical issues, and providing methodological advice to consortium partners. The position involves regular communication of progress through reports and presentations, along with travel to European partner institutions for meetings, training and collaborative work. The successful candidate will also contribute to strategic development of the research programme through grant writing, preparation of funding applications, and identification of new collaborative opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong microbiome and human-data expertise to play a central role in a major international research effort. Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI's. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher.
