We are seeking a part-time cheesemonger (no previous experience needed), available three days per week over seven, for our counter in Dunnes Stores, Knocknacarra. Ideal candidates love cheese, understand the connection between food producers and consumers, and enjoy storytelling, tasting, and sharing knowledge about cheese and artisan foods. JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Cheesemonger
1. Scope of Position
The Cheesemonger is responsible for cheese and other food and non-food item sales, caring for cheese to ensure quality, and maintaining product knowledge, including the stories behind products, pairing suggestions, and flavor descriptions. Responsibilities also include cleaning counters, storage areas, tasting tables, and fridges.
The Cheesemonger will:
* Provide excellent customer service and sales in a fast-paced environment.
* Maintain high standards of personal and service quality, promoting food culture and local producers.
2. Key Responsibilities
Learn about and educate customers on Sheridans products, Irish & European artisan cheese, and food producers. Be familiar with all current products, including dairy, deli, and ambient categories. Work tactfully in busy environments, assist customers with queries, and help with the use of the Sheridans website. Receive and organize product deliveries, describe flavors and pairings, maintain cheese quality, merchandise displays, and adhere to food safety standards, including HACCP documentation and allergen awareness. Prepare and display cheese, maintain signage, manage stock and expiry dates, and perform daily counter maintenance. Participate in stocktaking and other duties as assigned.

4. Qualifications/Experience
Desirable: 1 year’s experience in a similar role; knowledge of Irish and European farmhouse cheese; HACCP training or awareness; interest in artisan foods; self-motivated; excellent communication skills; organized and calm under pressure; availability three days over seven, including weekends.
