We're hiring an experienced Database Developer to design and build high-performance, mission-critical OLTP systems within a regulated financial services environment.
This is a hands-on role focused on data modelling, procedural SQL development, performance tuning, and data integrity.
You'll work closely with application engineers, analysts, and operations teams to deliver reliable, scalable database solutions that underpin core business platforms.
What You'll Do Design and implement robust relational database models for OLTP systems Develop and optimise stored procedures, functions, and triggers (PL/pg SQL or equivalent) Build and maintain schemas, tables, indexes, views, and constraints Implement business rules and validation at database level Design and support data transformation and migration processes Tune performance through query optimisation and indexing strategies Implement security, access control, and audit mechanisms Collaborate with developers to ensure effective application integration Participate in code reviews and maintain database coding standards Support releases and production deployments in line with change management processes Assist QA and troubleshooting of data-related issues Communicate risks, dependencies, and delivery timelines clearly to stakeholders What We're Looking For 5+ years' experience in database development and relational modelling Strong SQL expertise with Postgre SQL, Oracle, and/or SQL Server Experience with procedural languages (PL/pg SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, or similar) Proven background building OLTP systems Strong skills in performance tuning and optimisation Experience using version control for database changes Solid understanding of database security best practices Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience) Nice to Have Financial services or banking systems experience Experience with complex data migrations and integrations Exposure to highly regulated production environments Skills: SQL PL/SQL Data modelling Postgre SQL Data integrity
