About the Role
As a mechanical project engineer, you will play a crucial role in the contracting department, working on major municipal and industrial design-build projects. Reporting to the Design-Build Manager, this position is based in Citywest, Dublin with frequent site visits around Ireland.
Main Responsibilities:
* Develop thorough knowledge and understanding of project deliverables and contractual requirements.
* Communicate effectively with the Project Manager throughout project execution and take ownership of delegated tasks and duties.
* Collaborate with our design and drawing departments in preparing and submitting design submissions to clients.
* Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to meet project procurement requirements.
* Support the Project Manager in managing and monitoring project delivery within defined budget and programme requirements.
* Anticipate and manage project risks and opportunities.
* Oversee site activities carried out by clients and their subcontractors, including planning, installation, commissioning, performance validation, and handover, as well as coordination with other contractors on-site.
* E nsure all design, construction, and installation activities are performed in accordance with company safety, health, environmental, and quality policies and procedures, aligning with our Never Harm Culture and Engagement Programme objectives.
* L ead the management of health and safety on-site, including day-to-day management, coordination, and reporting, as well as liaison with the SHESQ Manager.
* R emain up-to-date with all company policies and procedures and participate in external audits as required for ISO accreditation.
* M ain tain a work environment that is supportive and respectful of other employees.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent third-level qualification.
* Minimum 3 years' experience in managing multi-disciplinary MEICA teams in a similar working environment, preferably in the design, construction, and commissioning of water and wastewater treatment facilities.
* Practical experience of managing and coordinating teams working in a construction site environment and comprehensive understanding of relevant health and safety regulations.
* Able to motivate others and delegate and monitor activities where appropriate.
* Able to work independently and prioritize workload efficiently, as well as work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Strong IT skills.
* Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Able to work independently but also in a team-oriented environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
