Role Overview:
We are seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Category Buyer to join our growing procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a defined portfolio of products, ensuring the best value in terms of quality, price, and service, while supporting business growth and maintaining strong supplier partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and develop a designated product category portfolio.
* Negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing and terms.
* Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer demand to identify opportunities.
* Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to support long-term business objectives.
* Work closely with internal teams (sales, marketing, operations) to deliver category growth.
* Analyse category performance and prepare reports to support commercial decisions.
* Deliver cost savings and improve supply chain efficiency.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a Buyer or Category Management role (FMCG/wholesale/retail background desirable).
* Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and communication skills.
* Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability.
* Highly organised, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
* Qualification in business, supply chain, or procurement (CIPS desirable but not essential).
