Office of Parliamentary Legal Advisers DublinThe Houses of the Oireachtas Service is holding an open competition to form panels for the positions ofAdvisory Counsel (Grade III)andAssistant Parliamentary Counsel (Grade II)within the Office of Parliamentary Legal Advisers (OPLA).A career in the OPLA offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the legal foundations of Ireland's parliamentary democracy. These roles are central to the provision of expert legal advice and legislative drafting services to the Houses of the Oireachtas, their Committees, the Commission and individual Members.Whether advising on constitutional and administrative law, supporting the development of Private Members' Bills or drafting legislation, successful candidates will work at the heart of the legislative process in a dynamic and collaborative legal environment.The RolesAdvisory Counsel (Grade III): Provide legal advice on a wide range of public and parliamentary law matters, including constitutional law, parliamentary privilege, procurement, employment law and more.Assistant Parliamentary Counsel (Grade II): Draft Private Members' Bills and statutory instruments and provide legal drafting support to Members and Committees.We are looking forQualified barristers or solicitors with at least five years' post-qualification experience.Demonstrated expertise in at least three of the following areas: Irish Constitutional law, Administrative law, Contract law, Employment law, EU law or Procurement law.Strong analytical, drafting and communication skills.A commitment to public service values and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Why join us?Be part of a highly respected legal team at the centre of Ireland's parliamentary system.Access to excellent professional development, training and staff supports.A collaborative and inclusive working environment.How to ApplyTo access the candidate information booklet and application form, please click here.Closing date: 3pm, Friday, 24 October 2025
