Purpose Of The Role
We're expanding our IT Department and seeking a Junior Database Administrator (DBA). This role provides an excellent opportunity to join our skilled team and learn alongside experienced database professionals. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure and Security Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the administration and maintenance of our database systems.
Job Responsibilities
* Assist with installing, configuring, and patching database environments (Progress OE12, MySQL, and MSSQL).
* Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and performance monitoring.
* Support the development and testing of database queries and stored procedures.
* Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
* Assist in maintaining database security and data integrity.
* Develop and update technical documentation for our database systems.
The above list is not an exhaustive list of duties. You will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.
Experience Required
* Basic understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS), preferably some exposure to Progress OE12, MySQL, or MSSQL.
* Familiarity with SQL and database query concepts.
Experience Preferred
* Experience with scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Shell, Scripting)
* Knowledge of database performance tuning techniques.
* Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
Qualifications Required
* Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
