SimoTech has an opportunity for an experienced DeltaV System Administrator to join our team.
In this role, you will be a key player in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of automated process operations by focusing on system configuration, troubleshooting, and providing technical support.
Working on site at a large-scale biopharmaceutical facility in Cork, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimising the DeltaV system, ensuring the smooth operation and optimisation of critical automation systems, all while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the DeltaV system, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with site protocols and GMP standards.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime and enhance reliability.
Perform system updates and maintenance, including software upgrades, user account management, patching and configuration of servers, workstations, and switches.
Develop and modify control logic, graphics and configurations to meet evolving process and operational requirements.
Ensure the security and integrity of DeltaV systems by implementing and monitoring cybersecurity measures.
Implement and maintain alarm management strategies in line with industry standards.
Participate in the planning and execution of projects involving DeltaV, including upgrades, expansions and new system installations.
Collaborate with vendors, contractors and internal teams to ensure project success.
Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, changes and troubleshooting activities.
Support audits and reviews by providing necessary documentation and system details.
Develop and deliver training materials to operators and other stakeholders on DeltaV systems.
Stay updated on industry trends, best practices and new developments related to Emerson DeltaV and process automation.
Key Requirements
3rd level Degree in Engineering or similar, or relevant work experience.
3+ years' experience with DeltaV DCS in a process automation life science manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in Emerson DeltaV configuration, administration and troubleshooting.
Good understanding of control system architectures, field instrumentation and industrial communication protocols (e.g., HART, Foundation Fieldbus, OPC and Modbus).
Technical proficiency in areas such as Windows Server administration, cybersecurity best practices, network configurations and database management.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to be on-call for system support outside of normal working hours.
Emerson DeltaV Certification in Emerson HCI and virtualisation highly beneficial.
