RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment for both domestic and overseas candidates across hospitals, nursing homes, home care, and community care services.
We are currently recruiting an Assistant Director of Nursing for a leading nursing home in Limerick, Ireland .
Key Responsibilities Ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in line with the organisation's mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives.
Promote resident safety, dignity, privacy, and rights while delivering consistent and compassionate care.
Foster an inclusive care environment that respects diversity, equality, and the cultural, social, and personal backgrounds of all residents.
Build effective relationships with residents and families to support autonomy, informed choice, and evidence-based decision-making.
Maintain professional competence and fulfil the role of Person-in-Charge in compliance with the Health Act ****, HIQA standards, notification requirements, and reporting obligations.
Oversee the day-to-day management of the centre and ensure effective service delivery through multidisciplinary team collaboration.
Lead workforce management, including recruitment, delegation, supervision, training, and professional development, ensuring mandatory training requirements are met.
Ensure appropriate delegation of care in line with professional scope of practice and retain accountability for delegated activities.
Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory standards, codes of practice, and certification requirements.
Maintain high standards of personal hygiene, professional appearance, infection prevention, and hand hygiene in accordance with organisational policies.
Requirements Registered General Nurse with active registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) live register.
Minimum of five years' post-registration experience in the acute healthcare sector across areas such as medical, surgical, emergency, older persons, or post-operative care.
Demonstrated evidence of ongoing Continuous Professional Development.
Strong knowledge and experience in clinical audits, quality improvement, and care metrics.
Proven IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Excel, with accurate documentation and typing skills.
Experience in staff rostering and the management of healthcare assistants and staff nurses.
Demonstrated competence in recognising and managing the deteriorating patient.
Effective people management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
Experience coordinating daily operations, patient flow, and discharge planning within a large acute unit (e.g. up to 80 beds).
Desirable qualifications include postgraduate nursing studies (e.g. emergency nursing, gerontology, medical/surgical nursing) and a QQI Level 6 or higher qualification in management or leadership.
