The Medical Textiles Technician/Senior Medical Textiles Technician reports to the Textiles Program Manager or Textiles R&D Engineer.
Roles and responsibilities include designing and developing innovative textiles-based new-product concepts using biostable and biodegradable polymer-based materials and technologies such as warp knitting, braiding, weaving, and circular knitting.
Responsibilities & Duties
Perform all duties assigned by the Medical Textiles Program Manager.
Assist in the design and development, prototype manufacturing, and testing of new textiles-based devices as directed by Design-Services customer needs and internal R&D projects.
Carry out operations in Manufacturing & Testing, R&D Lab and Warehouse, including processing, packing, and labeling.
Provide input to solve processing challenges and consider large-scale/production manufacturing feasibility.
Highlight potential issues for larger volume manufacturing.
Complete and comply with all documentation required in the Design & Control process.
Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice requirements for a Class8 Clean Environment and all General Process Specifications.
Take full ownership of traceability and control of all R&D materials within the cleanroom.
Perform line clearances when processing R&D work within the cleanroom.
Assist in cost-saving initiatives, revise manufacturing process specifications, and perform related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
3-5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within a medical device environment.
Excellent attention to detail, technical capability, communication skills, teamwork abilities, and high initiative.
Prior experience with polymer fibers (biostable and/or degradable) and with warp knitting, braiding, circular knitting, or weaving is highly desirable.
