The Role
GMC are currently looking for an experienced
Commissioning Engineer
to support the commissioning and handover of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and network assets.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring systems are commissioned safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Irish Water standards, contract requirements, and regulatory obligations.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, manage, and execute commissioning activities for water and wastewater projects in accordance with Irish Water standards and project specifications.
Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and test documentation.
Coordinate commissioning activities with construction teams, designers, subcontractors, and client representatives.
Carry out functional testing of mechanical, electrical, ICA/SCADA, and process systems.
Identify, record, and manage defects, snags, and commissioning issues through to resolution.
Ensure all commissioning works are carried out in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
Support operator training and assist with system optimisation during handover.
Prepare commissioning reports, test records, and handover documentation for Irish Water.
Participate in FATs, SATs, and site acceptance testing as required.
Support the transition from construction to operational status, including early-life support.
The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies
Degree or trade background in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Automation, or related discipline).
Proven experience commissioning water and/or wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, or network assets.
Experience working on Design & Build or Framework contracts for Irish Water.
Strong working knowledge of Irish Water standards, specifications, and safety procedures.
Experience with mechanical and electrical systems, with exposure to ICA/SCADA systems.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and coordination abilities.
Full, clean Irish driving licence.
