Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated marine engineer to join our team. The engineer will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the mechanical, electrical, and propulsion systems aboard our tugboats. Our crews operate on a biweekly schedule, requiring the engineer to stay onboard for their two-week tour. This role is crucial in ensuring that our fleet operates at peak performance, providing safe and reliable towing services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs of machinery, engines, and propulsion systems.
* Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics to promptly resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
* Ensure all systems comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
* Work closely with the Captain and other crew members to ensure seamless operations.
* Respond to emergency breakdowns and critical system failures with speed and efficiency.
* Report any equipment failures or defects to the marine and technical superintendents.
* Assist with loading and unloading of equipment and materials as required.
Qualifications
* Previous experience as a Tug Engineer is advantageous.
* Relevant certifications in marine engineering (e.g., STCW, Marine Engineer Class 2 or higher)
* Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
* Hands-on experience with troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
