We are expanding our Consulting practice in EY FS Ireland, building a Technology Consulting team.
We are recruiting high achieving individuals with technical data expertise within Financial Services.
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with a strong background in supporting business and analytics teams in the Financial Services industry by designing, developing, and operating robust data pipelines.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Azure Cloud and proficiency in Microsoft Azure Data Services and platforms such as Azure SQL, Data Warehouse, Data Factory, Data Lakes, HDInsight, and Stream Analytics.
Your Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage robust and scalable data pipelines and solutions for core systems and applications.
Collaborate with IT and business teams to understand requirements, identify, prioritize, and document data requirements for management and business insights.
Build and maintain data solutions that transform raw data into structured formats suitable for analytics.
Develop and manage data models and ETL processes to ensure effective and efficient data ingestion and transformation.
Analyse and conduct gap analysis in existing data architectures.
Work closely with Data Stakeholders to communicate and influence implementation of technical enhancements.
Lead performance optimisation and identify data pipeline bottlenecks; optimise query performance and implement best practices.
Implement security measures throughout the data lifecycle.
Ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements such as GDPR, BCBS239, IFRS9, IRB or HIPAA.
Monitor data quality and integrity throughout the transformation process, implementing controls and fixes.
Design data architecture that can scale horizontally and vertically to accommodate growing data volumes.
Support design and implementation of integrated technology solutions with data expertise.
Design and implement robust reporting frameworks for timely and accurate financial status reporting.
Skils and Attributes for Success
Experience in one or more Cloud Platforms:
Microsoft Azure – Core Azure SQL, MSSQL server; Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, RBAC.
AWS – S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda; IAM, Cloud Watch, Athena.
Google Cloud Platform – Big Query, Cloud Storage, Dataflow; IAM, Cloud Functions, Vertex AI (optional).
Experience in one or more Data Platforms:
Microsoft – Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, SQL Server, Data Lake Storage Gen2, Blob Storage, Power BI integration, Functions and Logic Apps.
Snowflake – SQL, architecture, Streams & Tasks, Secure Data Sharing, Snowpark.
Databricks – Spark, Delta Lake, Structured Streaming, Auto Loader, MLflow, Feature Store, notebooks.
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Analytics, IT, Computer Science, Statistics, Maths, Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years experience in a Data Engineering role with a consulting firm or multinational organisation or large financial services institution.
Advanced SQL skills – joins, subqueries, performance tuning.
Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible).
Familiarity with finance, operations, privacy & security, regulatory & compliance domains.
Knowledge of data management, governance frameworks and compliance.
Experience with Agile methodologies and delivery.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Team‑centric mindset, organisational skills.
Familiarity with Python and common libraries.
Ideally, you will also have
Experience working with financial services clients.
Ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty.

Conduct workshops and stakeholder interviews.
Build and manage relationships across stakeholders.
Financial services industry background a bonus.
Preparation and delivery of MI/BI reporting in Power BI or SAS a bonus.
Snowflake experience a bonus.
