PMO Project Manager (Fixed-Term Agency Contract – 5 Months)

Role Summary
The PMO Project Manager will support the management, governance, and compliance oversight of a portfolio of externally funded research projects.
Reporting to the Project Compliance Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with project leads, finance teams, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered in line with funder and organisational requirements.
This is a hands-on role focused on project administration, governance, reporting coordination, compliance monitoring, and PMO process improvement during a period of increased project activity.
Key Responsibilities
Support project setup, tracking, reporting, and close-out activities.
Maintain accurate project records and compliance documentation.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on project deliverables and reporting deadlines.
Monitor project risks, budgets, timelines, and governance requirements.
Contribute to the development of PMO processes, templates, and reporting tools.
Support audit readiness and funder compliance activities.
Essential Requirements
Level 8 qualification in Project Management, Business Administration, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum 3 years' experience in a PMO, project governance, or portfolio project management role.
Experience with project management methodologies such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or Lean Six Sigma.
Strong organisational, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with project tracking/reporting tools such as JIRA, Avaza, or equivalent.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
Desirable
Experience in research funding or grant administration.
Knowledge of higher education or public sector governance frameworks.
Experience with workflow automation tools such as Power Automate or JIRA automation
