Overview
We would like to invite applications for the following 32 hours per week, permanent contract for the role of Programme Assistant Driver in Cavan. IWA is committed to promoting, maintaining and adding to our diverse and inclusive work environment.
Responsibilities
Lead on the implementation of programme activities within the Community Centre, including delivering programmes daily as selected by participants and completing all report writing on programme designs.
Liaise and network with local resources (e.g., colleges) for implementing creative new programmes.
Support Coordinator and Service Support Officer in creating and implementing fundraising initiatives.
Perform administrative duties and encourage active involvement of members in developmental, personal and activation programmes.
Accompany and support participants on annual holidays, outings, socials and day trips as required by the Service Coordinator/Service Support Officer.
Assist with patient moving and handling and provide personal care of participants where required.
Ensure health and safety standards and practices are fully adhered to in all activities.
Comply with IWA's Safety Statements and statutory health and safety and fire safety legislation.
Safeguard children and adults from abuse or harm and adhere to IWA’s Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.
Operate clamping, hoisting and lifting equipment as an essential part of the role.
Record and report hazards, accidents or potential incidents to the Service Coordinator/Service Support Officer.
Assist with transporting participants to and from the Centre and other related community activities as required.
Mentor staff and volunteers in all aspects relating to programme activities.
Demonstrate flexibility and availability for out-of-hours service activities (evenings and weekends).
Carry out any other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.
Person Specification
Training, Experience And Qualifications
A Full QQI Level 5 in Health Care Support or a similar qualification is essential.
QQI Major Awards relevant to IWA include:
Community Health Services (including Safety Health at Work and Care Provision Practice)
Health Service Skills (including Workplace Statutory Policies, Procedures and Care Skills and Care Support)
Health Care Support (including Safety Health at Work and Care Skills and Care Support)
A category B driving license is required.
Previous experience of working with databases and Microsoft Office suite is essential.
Knowledge And Skills
Experience of developing and delivering projects or programmes.
Experience of working with people with disabilities is required.
Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations, transport safety and standards of use.

Salary range for this position is €27,045.10 to €30,105.77 DOE

The current pay scale is subject to a 2% salary rate increase in 2026, aligning with the recent WRC interim agreement aimed at enhancing pay adjustments within Section 39 organisations.
