Purpose of the role:
The Catering/Patient Food Services Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of their allocated ( Food & Beverage, Patients Food Services ) area within the Catering/ Patient Food Services Department. This will include the supervision of Catering/ Patient Food Services Assistants to ensure exceptional patient and customer care is provided at all times, incorporating food safety and health & safety standards are in line with regulatory requirements and department SOPs. Depending on your allocated area of work the following roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to key duties and responsibilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
5. Supervise all available resources to ensure the orderly efficient & hygienic service of meals, maintaining a prompt and efficient service to patients and customers
6. Be responsible for /co-ordinate menu collection (manual/electronic), collation, picking lists, and menu generation for CPU, Plating room, and Patient requirements which consist of belt area supervision including recovery doc and Phoenix dining room.
7. Ensure all standard operational procedures (SOP’s) are carried out so that all customers/patients receive the correct meal, are temperature compliant, quality and time assured, have complete knowledge of all SOP’s and review to ensure benchmarks are achieved
8. Ensure catering assistants adhere to work practices in relation to food handling and food safety
9. Ensure catering assistants wear the correct PPE and comply to personal hygiene practices
10. Ensure principles of HACCP are maintained and checked, all tasks, documentation are complete and signed off including non- compliances
11. Be responsible for the daily operation of the plating room, to include the filling of patient trolleys, dishwashing areas, ensuring that all food and utensils required for meal service is in the plating room
12. Supervision of Staff in plating area to ensure PPE compliance, consistency of meals and food safety to achieve superior customer service and product quality
13. Assist catering management team in improvement initiatives e.g. Nutrition and Hydration Standards, Happy Heart Award
14. Monitor and Record correct waste control and disposal measures
15. Operate information technology systems both current and future incorporating all menu’s and other software systems such as MANNA to improve process efficiency. Monitor and record that all electronic tablets are returned to their areas for charging, maintenance and cleaning as per SOP
16. Assist in ensuring maximum security and maintenance of all equipment, utensils, stores, offices, ward pantries and catering areas as per open and close departmental policy
17. Report on and take necessary action in the event of an accident, fire, stock damage, or unfit food and complete the necessary returns and reports
18. Promote a professional image and ensure staff attend work on a regular basis and in a timely fashion and to promote good employee relations
19. The Supervisor may be assigned to different areas within the Catering/Patient Food Services Department by the Manager depending on the needs of the department
20. Availability to work various schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays (Christmas / Easter ) and overtime as this post can require a high level of flexibility.

Qualifications & Experience required
Must have:
21. Have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programs or equivalent
And
22. Certificate in primary food Safety
23. One years’ experience in the following areas in a similar environment:
24. Food and distribution e.g. plating areaWard levelDining to include the Recovery Dock Coffee Shop, Vending, Corporate Business
Reward & Recognition
Salary Scale is effective 1st March 2025 (€40,710 - €47,588)
25. The appointment is part-time & specified purpose.
26. The annual leave entitlement is 23 working days per year. The leave year runs from 1st April to the 31st of March each year.
27. Normal working hours are 39 worked over 7 days. Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 7.00am to 20.00pm over 7 days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement.
