Role IntroductionEstablished in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US, operating both large‑scale motor‑way service areas and travel plazas, and smaller petrol stations. The business has grown to over €3BN in annual revenue, operates 600 motorway service plazas and forecourt sites internationally, and employs over 17,000 people.Applegreen is in a rapid growth phase and to support this ambitious growth we are seeking to onboard a Field Sales Executive to join our team.This role will form part of the Commercial Fuel Team and reports to the Commercial Fuel Manager. The successful candidate will be a confident people person who can fit into Applegreenseamlessly and adopt a hands‑on approach to their role. This is a full‑time role and a company car will be provided.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement and maintain a sales strategy with a view to maximising sales opportunities.Identify and target new business segments/opportunities such as new customer segments.Integrate Commercial Fuels with the transport industry network and its representative bodies.Responsible for the management and development of key relationships within the area.Manage day‑to‑day reporting on sales performance and optimise efficiencies to promote growth.Respond to enquiries and interest from commercial fuel customers regarding Applegreen products.Qualifications, Experience & SkillsStrong business development skills ideally in the energy, distribution, FMCG and/or B2B sector.A history of being a self‑starter who has the ability and drive to work on their own initiative.An experienced and entrepreneurial led sales executive with a strong and successful track record in growing sales profitability.A desire and ambition to grow and progress alongside the role.Demonstrable experience of using their own ingenuity in developing successful sales promotional activities.Very strong commercial and financial acumen with good negotiation skills and the ability to fully understand and maximise all component characteristics of a complex business.An in‑depth knowledge of the challenges of managing a rapidly changing business in a highly competitive environment.Preferably an understanding and knowledge of the transport industry and the dynamics it operates within.A working style that shows enthusiasm, persistence, self‑motivation, and drive.Additional Key Skills & AttributesA dynamic individual who adapts well to change and can thrive in a rapidly growing organisation that continues to evolve.Proven track record of delivering to tight deadlines.A highly organised individual with ability to plan and prioritise workloads effectively for maximum impact and adapt around changing priorities as required.Ability to execute directly at high quality and pace.Excellent drive, enthusiasm and commitment and a keen interest in developing a career in Applegreen.A ‘can do’ attitude and a positive solution‑focused mindset.Demonstrate strong analytical capability to interpret and challenge data and to interrogate financial systems.Has strong commercial acumen and a focus on delivering value to the business.Exceptional interpersonal skills, and ability to engage and develop relationships with individuals at all levels of the organisation.Be a self‑starter, and also be able to work collaboratively as a member of a highly interdependent team across many parts of Applegreen.Is resilient and calm under pressure.Has sound judgement and objective logical decision‑making skills.Has strong leadership potential and management skills, who will be a role model for the people and culture at Applegreen.Willing to travel ad hoc if required.
