The role
Job Purpose
Ayvens Insurance is recruiting an experienced Actuarial Trainee to join the Actuarial team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on developing skills in reserving, Solvency II reporting and IFRS 17 reporting, and participating in the daily operations of the team. The role reports to a qualified actuary and the successful candidate will be supported with study sponsorship and support to qualify as an actuary.
Responsibilities

Apply best‑estimate actuarial reserving techniques to prepare quarterly reserve estimates and narrative explanations.
Perform Solvency II analysis, focusing on preparing Technical Provisions calculations.
Provide assistance to the IFRS 17 reporting team.
Give actuarial support on internal projects and initiatives, including granular investigations on claim trends and coordination with stakeholders.
Assist with year‑end actuarial certification, audit engagement and Solvency II quarterly & annual Quantitative Reporting Templates to the Central Bank of Ireland.
Support upgrades and improvements to software and systems used within the Actuarial area, including reserving software.
Assist in preparing material and papers for quarterly Board and group risk management meetings.
Complete mandatory training, including IT security and compliance training.

Requirements

At least two years’ experience in an insurance actuarial environment, preferably non‑life.
Knowledge of Solvency II requirements.
Interest in and/or knowledge of IFRS 17.
Reserving experience with one or more specialist reserving software packages (e.g., ResQ).
Previous fleet motor and/or personal lines motor experience is an advantage.
Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data and statistics.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
Ability to prioritise work to meet strict deadlines.
Strong time‑management and organisational skills.
Team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to work across departments.
Strong communication skills with international teams and ability to explain actuarial concepts to non‑actuarial audiences.
