Post Summary**:**
The Discipline of Occupational Therapy invites applications for the position of Regional Placement Facilitator in Occupational Therapy. The successful candidate will become a member of the practice education team within the Discipline, contributing to practice education teaching at undergraduate level, as well as providing ongoing support to students while on placement.

The post holder will report directly to the Head of Discipline and will be required to work closely with the Practice Education Co-ordinator in securing practice education placements for students, and in supporting students and practice educators during practice education placements. In addition, they will be expected to be actively involved in the continued progression and development of practice education within the Discipline.

The successful candidate should have at least three years post qualification experience in occupational therapy practice and will be at a senior occupational therapist stage of their career (or eligible to apply for Senior Occupational Therapy positions). The candidate should have a well-established background in occupational therapy practice, with a proven track record of supporting students in practice, evidence of teamwork in a multi and inter-disciplinary teams, as well as excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. The Regional Placement Facilitator position requires the candidate to have a very clear working knowledge of the Irish healthcare system and the broad context of occupational therapy practice in Ireland. The post requires a high level of organisational skills, communication, teamworking, teaching, networking and collaborative problem solving.

This role is available on either a full-time or part-time basis.

Post status: Specific Purpose Contract

This appointment is made on a specific purpose contract to provide cover for the substantive postholder during an approved career break. The contract will terminate upon the return of the substantive postholder. This appointment does not confer any entitlement to permanency. Should the substantive postholder not resume duty, the post will be subject to open competition.

Hours of Post: 35 hours per week

Salary: This appointment will be made on the Senior Occupational Therapist Scale (€64,551- €76,007) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
