The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that Customer Orders & 3PL shipments are packed and shipped in accordance with the relevant shipping procedures and instructions.
Total responsibility for the following:
1. Ensure that shipments are booked in advance with the correct forwarding agents.
2. Ensure that all shipments are adequately packed to ensure that no damage is incurred during transit. This entails using correct pallet type for relevant destinations and additional packing requirements such as banding and strapping.
3. Liaise with Customer Service and Logistics, making them aware of any issues which need to be resolved for upcoming shipments.
4. Communicate and liaise with IT and Finance to resolve issues with the current ERP system and commercial shipments respectively. Oversee adherence to dangerous goods procedure when shipping hazardous goods.Ensure that shipment details and paperwork for customer orders are submitted to the relevant logistics agent in a timely fashion.Ensure shipments are loaded on to trailers/ containers in a secure and safe manner.Record relevant cargo details where necessary such as seal number and nominated agent acting on behalf of freight forwarder.Occasional extended hours may be required to meet shipping deadlines.Complete special projects and assignments as requested by manager
Performance will be measured on the following:
5. Achieving the required OTIF performance (>98%)
6. Developing and implementing continuous improvement processes
7. Internal and external audits.
8. Adherence and implementation of EHS systems
9. Continuous improvements for ERP processes and documentation.
Education and Experience Requirements:
10. 3+ years Supply Chain, Logistics, Shipping or similar Experience
11. Recognized qualification in Logistics or Shipping desirable
12. Health & Safety Experience or Qualification desired
13. Forklift driving experience
14. Significant experience using MRP/ERP systems.
15. IATA certification in shipping hazardous goods or similar qualification/experience desirable
Weekly hours : Mon to Fri 7.30-4.00 and Fri 7.30-3.00
