Job Title: Female Counsellor MQI Jane’s Place – Female Specific Service
Responsible to: Women’s Services Coordinator
Responsible for: The direct delivery of counselling and facilitation of groups to clients in MQI’s Female Specific Service Dublin.
Reports to: Service Coordinator
Objective:
To effectively deliver one-to-one counselling, group work, and care planning to female clients of MQI, upholding the philosophy and work ethos of MQI. We are looking to recruit a Female Counsellor for an exciting new Trauma-Informed service for women with experiences of homelessness and/or addiction. The aim is to provide a safe space to empower women to address their physical and psychological needs, with access to case management, counselling, psycho-educational, medical, and holistic support.
This role is part of the team responsible for the growth and operation of a new female-only day service, “Jane’s Place,” based in Dublin, with in-reach clinics into partner agencies. The service offers a comprehensive 'one-stop-shop' for health, addiction, life skills, gender-based violence, legal issues, education, employment, counselling, and mental health services. The counsellor will work as part of a multidisciplinary team including an all-female staff team comprising a Doctor, RGN, Mental Health Case Worker, counsellor, project workers, and service co-ordinator.
Main Duties:
1. Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the service following policies and procedures.
2. Participate actively in team meetings and respond to requests from the Service Coordinator.
3. Adhere to MQI policies to ensure consistent service quality.
4. Build strong interagency connections for referral pathways.
Staffing:
* Provide support for students, part-time, and voluntary workers.
* Work as part of a team, participating in service activities.
* Liaise with the multidisciplinary team using a case management approach.
Clients:
* Assist in client assessment and needs identification.
* Support clients through counselling, care planning, group work, and workshops.
* Offer general and addiction counselling tailored to women's needs.
* Provide in-reach and outreach supports.
* Develop individual care plans and refer clients to other services.
Administrative:
* Maintain accurate client records and data.
* Contribute to reports and statistics.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.
Training:
* Attend training sessions and workshops.
* Support the transfer of learning to team members.
* Engage with personal and professional development with supervision.
General:
* Maintain good relationships with external agencies.
* Stay updated on best practices and policies.
* Adhere to organizational policies, especially regarding health & safety, confidentiality, boundaries, and ethics.
* Be flexible to organizational changes and additional duties as requested.
Person Specification:
We seek an energetic, self-motivated individual capable of working independently and as part of a dedicated, client-centered team.
Essential Criteria:
* Experience in community/addiction settings.
* Accredited or pre-accredited counsellor (min 200 hours) with ACI, IACP, or equivalent.
* Understanding of issues facing women with complex needs, including addiction, mental health, homelessness, domestic violence.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches.
* Ability to develop relationships with clients and team members.
* Proficiency in IT skills including MS Office and CRM systems.
* Experience in developing and delivering workshops and groups.
Location: Onsite at Jane’s Place, Dublin 2
Contract Type: Contract of Indefinite Duration
Hours: 39 hours/week
Salary: €37,611 - €45,611 (plus an additional €65/month for external supervision)
