The Role:

Uisce Éireann IT (UÉ IT) provides IT services and support to the wider Uisce Éireann business, and across the Local Authority user base. IT Operations is responsible for all operational run activities across Applications, Operational Technology, Service Management and Infrastructure.

The IT Infrastructure team is responsible for IT/OT infrastructure services to the business across a wide range of functions including maintenance of existing systems and IT/OT infrastructure, release management, configuration management, IT/OT disaster recovery, vendor management, security infrastructure management, IT/OT standards compliance and quality assurance. The team guide resources, facilitate team demand management and capacity planning, and manage the seqUÉncing and operational interdependencies of all IT Operations related initiatives. The infrastructure team also manages the data centres and IT/OT infrastructure for UÉ, including IT availability and IT continuity

Reporting to the Database Administration Technical Lead, the Cloud Database Analyst will be responsible for managing and supporting a portfolio of enterprise applications and associated databases across diverse platforms and cloud environments. This includes ensuring performance, security, and availability for critical business systems, without being limited to any specific vendor technologies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

* Provide operational support and expertise in database performance optimisation, backup and recovery strategies, and high-availability solutions across diverse environments.

* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to successfully deliver business initiatives, system upgrades and enhancement projects.

* Proactively recommend and implement database and application updates, patches and new releases while contributing to future architecture and design decisions.

* Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of automation for routine ministration and maintenance tasks.

* Manage and maintain multiple testing environments to ensure reliable development and deployment processes.

* Contribute to the development, improvement, and maintenance of standards, guidelines and documentation, including environment change logs.

* Identify and mitigate system risks and issues through proactive monitoring and resolution.

* Optimise storage by removing obsolete data files and irrelevant information and troubleshoot data-related issues to maintain integrity and performance.

General Duties and Responsibilities

* Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business

* Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards

* Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives

* Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann's Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation

* Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

* Relevant third-level qualification and/or professional accreditation is desirable.

* Minimum of 3 years' experience in utilities, water, or similar industries—or equivalent relevant experience.

* Understanding of relational databases (Oracle, SQLServer) and basic troubleshooting.

* Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally

* Knowledge of differences between cloud and on-premises storage, with a foundational understanding of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models.

* Familiarity with backup, restore, and replication strategies in cloud environments, as well as experience with cloud monitoring tools.

* Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

* Proven ability to address complex issues proactively and communicate solutions clearly.

* Highly motivated, committed to professional standards, and able to deliver results within a collaborative team environment.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify improvements and implement effective solutions.

* Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to align with evolving business strategies and priorities.

* Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and applying newly acquired knowledge and skills on the job.
