Sligo Credit Union is seeking a detail orientated and proactive Finance Officer.This is full-time permanent position and is based in our Sligo branch. TheFinance Officerreports to the CFO and in their absence the CEO in this dual-role position which combines financial management and electronic payments, supporting accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. The role requires the delivery of timely, accurate financial management reporting. In addition, the role involves implementing effective processes and controls to accurately measure, analyse and report on the financial performance while reviewing financial reports to ensure all the underlying processes, reviews and controls have been completed in accordance with best practice and regulatory requirements and that all the supporting detail is in place to substantiate the balance sheet figures. The electronic payments and member transactions aspect of the role has the responsibility for the smooth, accurate processing of all electronic payments on behalf of Sligo Credit Union. In addition, it involves the implementation of effective processes and controls to accurately measure, analyse and reconcile funds in accordance with best practice and regulatory requirements and to ensure all the supporting details are in place to substantiate all aspects of the processing. Key Responsibilities: Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports Manage budgets, forecasts, and investment tracking Process and reconcile electronic payments including payrolls, standing orders, and direct debits Ensure compliance with AML, Data Protection, and Central Bank regulations Contribute to strategic projects and continuous process improvement Skills and competency requirements: Relevant accountancy qualification - minimum of level 6 certification. Full QFA qualification desirable or actively pursuing same. Strong understanding of business operations, financial systems and reporting standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure Knowledge of the financial services sector Strong communication and report writing skills Awareness of AML and data protection legislation and its application in financial roles.
