Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Engineer within UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering.
A Research Engineer position is available in the UCD school of Biosystems and Food Engineering in the CampyDecon Project, working on non-thermal intervention technology development for the fresh poultry chain.
The Campydecon project tackles the most commonly reported bacteria associated with food borne disease - Campylobacter and Salmonella spp.
The purpose of the CampyDecon project and this role is to understand new techniques to maintain the safety of nutritious poultry products for consumers.
This role will work within a wider team and apply a range of optimised non thermal intervention technologies to poultry products to complete combined intervention trials and assess impacts on quality parameters across chemical and sensory aspects.
Applicants should have experience in non-thermal plasma technology, LED, green preservation technologies and product analyses, where a background knowledge of food/chem/bio engineering being relevant.
This project will provide an excellent interdisciplinary research opportunity in the areas of non-thermal processing, food science and technology.
Salary
Salary Range: €40,000 - €46,400 Per Annum.
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
