Automation Engineer
A world leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Ireland is seeking an experienced
Automation Engineer
to support day-to-day operations and deliver key automation and digitalization projects. This is a
12-month hourly-rate contract
with strong potential for extension.
What You'll Do
* Act as
Automation/OT System Owner
for manufacturing systems.
* Ensure
maximum system uptime
through monitoring, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination.
* Manage user access, system backups, restores, and routine patching.
* Lead small improvement projects to enhance system performance and reliability.
* Support site and global automation initiatives—creating URS, FDS, test scripts, and technical documentation.
* Participate in investigations, ensure data integrity compliance, and support system lifecycle management.
Tech Environment
You'll work with a modern pharmaceutical automation stack including:
* Siemens PLCs + TIA Portal (core requirement)
* Omron / Mitsubishi PLCs
* SCADA/HMI platforms (iFix, Wonderware, Inmation)
* Industrial communication protocols (OPC, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus)
* SQL databases, basic scripting, and OT/IT network technologies
What We're Looking For
* 5+ years' experience in GMP/regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing
* Strong hands-on expertise with
Siemens PLCs and TIA Portal
* Knowledge of GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, and data integrity principles
* Ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and support manufacturing automation systems
* Skilled in technical documentation, problem-solving, and working under pressure
* Strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional environment
