Dementia Specific Trainee - Healthcare Support Assistant - Boyle - Community Employment Scheme. Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more, or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department. To register your interest you can contact an Employment Personal Advisor (EPA) in your local Intreo Centre. Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.
Job Description
This is a developmental opportunity; no experience is necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. Western Alzheimer’s is currently recruiting Healthcare Support Assistants within our in-home Respite Sitter Service / Day Care. This is a CE Placement and a great opportunity for someone looking to return to work, up-skill and gain further experience working with our elderly clients, in a person-centered healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
* Work with elderly clients, including those with Alzheimer’s Disease/Dementia, in an in-home respite sitter service and day care setting.
* Assist with personal care and activities of daily living as appropriate.
* Prepare meals and provide social engagement and stimulation through therapeutic activities.
* Participate in healthcare support training to develop confidence and competencies.
* Offer compassionate, patient, and reliable support aligned with a person-centered approach.
Qualifications and Requirements
* No prior experience required; accredited training will be provided.
* Willingness to participate in Garda Vetting.
* QQI/FETAC Level 5 (or progression toward) as part of career development.
* Coaching and mentoring will be provided to support career growth.
* Full driving licence and car are essential.
* Garda Vetting may be required; provide suitable character references.
