About The Opportunity
Shutterstock is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (SE 4) to join our TurboSquid 3D team, which powers the systems and workflows behind the world’s leading collection of 3D models. Our mission is to streamline and scale the processes that bring high‑quality 3D content from creators to customers across films, games, architecture, advertising, and more.
What You’ll Do
 * Lead the design and evolution of systems that support 3D asset ingestion, validation, and management.
 * Architect and optimize search infrastructure to improve speed, accuracy, and discoverability of 3D assets across the platform.
 * Shape architectural decisions that impact the entire 3D content pipeline and related data systems.
 * Implement and maintain scalable, well‑tested, observability‑full‑stack applications and APIs.
 * Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the team.
 * Collaborate with product managers, designers, and content experts to improve contributor and internal workflows.
 * Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance and scalability.
What You’ll Bring
 * Extensive experience in full‑stack software development.
 * Expertise in search and data systems such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
 * Strong proficiency with web frameworks such as Rails, Django, or React.
 * Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
 * Proficiency with Git and GitHub for source control.
 * Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and guide architectural direction.
 * Strong mentorship and communication skills, including constructive code reviews.
 * Commitment to building maintainable, testable, high‑quality software.
Bonus Skills
 * Familiarity with 3D technologies—WebGL, Three.js, Blender, common 3D file formats.
 * Experience with TypeScript, JSON:API, or GraphQL.
 * Experience deploying to or managing AWS environments.
 * Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
 * Experience with event‑driven architectures such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
